Paulo Lin, PhDBSc Biochemistry, University of British Columbia. Vancouver, BC. PhD Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of British Columbia. Vancouver, BC.
My research interests focus on the mechanisms by which liposome nanoparticles (LN) gain entry into the cell. Using both biological and biochemical means I am interested in dissecting and improving the cytoplasmic delivery of LN in vivo.

Alex Leung, BSc, PhD CandidateBSc Biochemistry, University of Calgary, Calgary, AB.
My project involves the characterization of lipids designed for the delivery of siRNA and the interaction of LN with cellular membranes. In my research biophysical techniques such as NMR are used as a tool to understand the behaviour of lipid membranes at the physical level. Our findings will enable us to rationally design novel lipids with improved transfection efficiencies and therapeutic potential.

Justin Lee, BSc, PhD CandidateBSc Biochemistry, University of Calgary, Calgary, AB.
My project focuses on the knockdown of the androgen receptor using liposomal nanoparticles (LNs) in advanced prostate cancer. Small interfering RNA (siRNA) directed against the androgen receptor will be encapsulated into LNs to allow for specific targeting to the prostate. The project is in collaboration with Dr. Paul S. Rennie (The Prostate Centre @ Vancouver General Hospital).
